Program name: Niitsitapi Education Assistant Certificate Program Overview:


Niitsitapi Education Assistant Certificate program that will prepare students to work alongside teachers and education professionals supporting the cognitive, psychological, social and emotional development of children and adolescents who have a wide range of exceptionalities.

This certificate is designed for community members, and those aspiring to careers in education as an education assistant. This certificate offers a face-to-face program specializing in teaching students’ various types of interventions and supports for students who attend K-12 schools. The certificate will be offered on-reserve at RCCC, reaching community members and current, casual (underemployed) education workers both on and off-reserve, with on-reserve participants given first preference.

The courses in the program have been adapted to reflect and emphasize Blackfoot knowledge, culture, and ways of being and learning.

This program would be best suited for individuals who are currently unemployed, but have worked, or are interested in working as an education assistant.

Admission Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • English 30-1
  • Related Post-Secondary Education;
  • A completed application form.
  • A recent and updated resume with 3 references.
  • A recent criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check.


Program at a glance: Credential: Upon completion of the NEACP program, a certificate is given.

Method of Delivery: Instructional classes, following a schedule that is given.
